The Crisis in Maternal & Reproductive Health, Globally and Locally

Join UNA Women for a special presentation on maternal and reproductive health with keynote speaker Rachel Moynihan, Advocacy and Communications Specialist at UNFPA, the United Nations reproductive health and rights agency. Ms. Moynihan will discuss UNFPA’s lifesaving work to meet the reproductive health and safety needs of women and girls with programs in more than 150 countries around the world and in emergencies like Syria and in neighboring countries.
Hakima Tafunzi Payne, co-founder of Uzazi Village in Kansas City, MO, will discuss the maternal health crisis in our own community, where the maternal death rate is rising, and African American women are three to four times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women. She will discuss how Uzazi village is working to change this.
