Jan Armstrong, World Citizen Award 2022
Jan Armstrong has served in leadership positions in several service organizations with deep connections to humanitarian, development, and conservation initiatives across the world. As a member of the Kansas City Rotary Club, Jan helped immunize children against polio in India in 2006, and made trips in 2013, 2014 and 2019 to monitor Rotary-funded education projects in three schools in Zambia. Jan has served as an International Ambassador for Nature Conservancy and vice chairperson of its Missouri Chapter. In this role, Jan observed and evaluated projects to protect the environment in several nations. She has served as vice president of Edgar Snow Memorial Foundation, committee chair of the Society for Friendship with China, and is a member of the Sister City Association of Kansas City.
